Beard Product Review – Black Coffee and Campfire Beard Oil from Artius Man

Artius Man is an American beard care product creator from Sunbury, Ohio. The company prides itself on creating high quality beard products from natural and organic ingredients.

In this two-part series, I’ll start off by reviewing two beard oil scents from Artius Man, which are Black Coffee and Campfire. In the second part, I review a beard oil and beard wash with a scent named Citrus Spice.

Black Coffee Beard Oil

Right off the bat, the second I started to apply this oil on my beard, I was amazed by the overall quality of the product. The oil spreads pretty well on my beard and leaves it shinier than most industrial oils do. The Black Coffee beard oil from Artius Man , besides its quality, has a terrific, natural, non-fake, scent. It didn’t smell that much when I opened the bottle, but after rubbing the oil in my hands and applying it on my beard, a pleasant strong coffee scent was brought up. It would be cliché to say it smells like a cup of black coffee. It actually does, but from my personal perspective, I’d rather say it smells as if you were in a coffee shop. When you order a coffee and wait to pay for it at the cashier, you know, when you take a deep breath and smell those coffee grains and vapor coming out of cups everywhere, that’s what it smells. And I think it’s a good thing, as long as you love coffee, of course!

Ingredients

As I mentioned above, Artius Man uses high quality natural and organic ingredients in their products. Here’s the list of ingredients for the Black Coffee beard oil :

Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil*, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, butyrospermum parkii (Shea) seed oil, argana spinosa (argan) kernel oil, sclerocarya birrea (marula) seed & adansonia digitata (baobab) seed oil, tocopheryl (vitamin E) acetate, essential oils. *Certified Organic.

Campfire Beard Oil

Campfire Beard Oil from Artius Man

The Campfire beard oil from Artius Man is for a different beardsman. The Black Coffee scent is likely to appeal to the urban kind of guy, whereas the Campfire scent is for the outdoors lover, wilder kind of bearded fellow. The company describes the scent as a “Earthy aroma with smokey tones”. I will add that it exactly smells like a campfire, the morning after. Those black, burned wood logs, after being cold for a few hours, the oil smells like that. Artius Man could manage to recreate that scent, and hats off to them for achieving this.

If you like smokey scents in general, like smoked salmon, bacon or cedar-smoked food on the grill, you’re likely to enjoy this oil. However, be warned that it really, I mean, really smells like a campfire (the company even warned me personally in that regard). The scent is strong, somewhat badass, and wild. I personally like that smell a lot, although I wouldn’t use it every day. The same kind of feeling applies to wood scents. Not everyone wants to smell like a cedarwood 2×8 everyday.

Nevertheless, the quality of the Campfire beard oil is the same as the Black Coffee one. Once again, I found out that this is an artisan-crafted oil, and unlike some of the big brands, their oils don’t contain ridiculous concentrations of cheap carrier oils. When you apply their oils, you can actually feel the quality.

Ingredients

Here’s the list of ingredients for the Campfire beard oil :

Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil*, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, butyrospermum parkii (Shea) seed oil, argana spinosa (argan) kernel oil, sclerocarya birrea (marula) seed & adansonia digitata (baobab) seed oil, tocopheryl (vitamin E) acetate, essential oils. *Certified Organic.

Verdict

Overall, I was pleased with both the Black Coffee beard oil and Campfire beard oil from Artius Man. The guys spent lots of time crafting their oils, searching for the best combinations of ingredients, that’s obvious.

The Black Coffee beard oil is great for the more urban, coffee lover kind of guy, whereas the Campfire beard oil is for the wilder beardsman who likes smokey scents in general.

The Black Coffee scent can be a great alternative to those who grew tired of citrus or wood scents. It’s a less common scent that’s definitely worth the try. If you’re more adventurous, go for the Campfire scent.
