Beard Product Review – 6 Beard Oil and 1 Beard Balm Scents from Oakwood Beard Care

Oakwood Beard Care is a beard product company from the United Kingdom. The company provides a great range of beard care products handmade with organic ingredients. Oakwood Beard Care also takes pride into supporting Mental Health Awareness with frequent use of the #mentalhealthawareness hashtag and donating a profit of every sale to the “MIND” mental health charity.

In this article, I will review their beard balm as well as 6 of their beard oil scents.

Let me start with what I think should be their signature product: Their AMAZING beard balm.

Choc Orange Beard Balm

Choc Orange Beard Balm from Oakwood Beard Care

The Choc Orange beard balm from Oakwood Beard Care is hand down one of my favorite beard balms I got the chance to review on this website.

The texture is perfect and the scent is terrific. Although the list of ingredients isn’t available, I’m pretty sure they use coconut oil and/or cocoa butter in it. This gives the balm a nice sweet smell blended with mild notes of orange. I think the orange notes could be a bit stronger, but since this aroma can easily become over the top, perhaps they’re better off leaving it that way.

The Choc Orange beard balm is pretty efficient by providing a non-greasy solution. It does a great job at conditioning and softening the beard. However, this is not the best beard balm for “bad beard days”, as stickier beard balms work better in that department. It’s pretty efficient nonethess with “non-stubborn” beards.

Lemon & Vanilla Beard Oil

Lemon & Vanilla Beard Oil from Oakwood Beard Care

My loyal readers know for sure that I’m a huge fan of the vanilla aroma. For that reason, you won’t be surprised to read that the Lemon & Vanilla beard oil scent from Oakwood Beard Care is my favorite of the 6 scents reviewed in this article.

I like the combination of lemon and vanilla. The citrus notes are quite predominent and the mild vanilla notes help make the blend less acidic. I also like the fact that unlike some citrus beard oils on the market, this one doesn’t feel like you’ve squeezed a lemon on your beard. The scent is well-balanced and doesn’t last for hours, which is a good thing for this kind of scent.

Orange & Lime Beard Oil

The Orange & Lime Beard Oil is obviously for citrus lovers. Unlike the Lemon & Vanilla scent, this one is really “in your face”. I like the refreshing feel this scent provides. It smells good and very fruity. I think the combination of orange and lime is a good idea for a beard oil scent and the end result is quite interesting.

This beard oil is not as sweet as the Lemon & Vanilla one and for that reason, although I’m a big fan of vanilla as I mentioned, I think the Orange & Lime scent is more versatile.

Tea Tree & Lemongrass Beard Oil

Tea Tree & Lemongrass Beard Oil from Oakwood Beard Care

Oakwood Beard Care’s Tea Tree & Lemongrass beard oil scent is another citrus-like beard oil with impressive healthy properties. Tea Tree is known for its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties and also helps healing acne and scars. As for Lemongrass, besides being mosquitos’ worst enemy, it contains tons of vitamins and is also known as an anti-bacterial agent.

This beard oil smells great, as long as you like citrus aromas of course. I wouldn’t wear it every day, because I’m not that much into citrusy beard oils (I like variety), but considering the multiple skin health benefits of the Tea Tree and Lemongrass combination, this will be a go-to beard oil for me if I want to soothe itchy skin.

Coffee & Ginger Beard Oil

Coffee and Ginger Beard Oil from Oakwood Beard Care

Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t dig the Coffee & Ginger beard oil scent. It might be the batch I got or whatever, but based on my experience with this beard oil, I think it smells like oriental food. Some beardsmen will like it, but speaking for myself, I like the taste of ginger. However, I don’t want my beard to smell like ginger. It just doesn’t work for me, sorry.

The blend of coffee and ginger might have potential, but I think it needs way more coffee in the blend and less ginger.

Peppermint & Spearmint Beard Oil

Peppermint & Spearmint Beard Oil from Oakwood Beard Care

The Peppermint & Spearmint beard oil scent is a quite refreshing one. This cool and spicy beard oil has several health properties too, including anti-inflammatory one. The aromas are agilely blended, and that’s a very good thing. I think mint-based beard oil scents can easily be over the top, and Oakwood Beard Care did a great job at crafting a solid, refreshing and good-smelling minted beard oil scent. If you want your beard and face to feel fresher than usual, get that beard oil scent without hesitation!

Tobacco & Ylang Ylang Beard Oil

Tobacco & Ylang Ylang Beard Oil from Oakwood Beard Care

The Tobacco & Ylang Ylang beard oil scent is a unique and daring one. Ylang Ylang is a tropical tree with a perfume widely used in aromatherapy. I’d never seen this aroma in beard oil before and quite frankly, it smells nice. The tobacco aroma helps give it a more masculine edge. Although Ylang Ylang is considered slightly musky and tobacco is rather coarse, this beard oil scent is closer to perfume than a strong badass beard oil for tough guys. If you’re looking for something extremely manly, I suggest you pass on this one. However, if you want to try a new kind of beard oil that smells good and unique, go get the Tobacco & Ylang Ylang scent.

Feeling on Beard and Skin

Oakwood Beard Care’s beard oil has thin non-greasy texture. It has nice conditioning and softening capabilities. However, thinner texture, although less sloppy on your hands, provides less control than thicker oils. For that reason, I suggest you use a greasier beard balm along with this beard oil on bad beard days.

Besides that, the scent lasts just enough so you don’t get tired of it. And by the way, the company also offers an unscented beard oil named “Original”. This one is useful if you don’t want your beard oil scent to mess around with your beard balm’s.

As you can see, Oakwood Beard Care has beard oil scents for everyone. Whether you’re into citrus, mint or want to try more daring blends, this company definitely has options for you.

And what about their terrific Choc Orange beard balm? I really like this product and encourage you to try it out. It smells awesome and does a great job at conditioning, shaping and making your beard smell great.
