Beard Product Review – 4 Beard Oil Scents from Ruddy Man Beard Co.

Ruddy Man Beard Co. is an American beard product company from North Carolina founded and owned by Jimmy Atkins, who is also a Christian rock musician. Ruddy Man Beard Co. offers an interesting range of products, which includes beard oil, beard balm, beard wash, mustache wax, and their own beard comb made of peach wood.

This is the first part of a two-part beard product review series I will write for Ruddy Man Beard Co. . In the first part, I will review 4 of their beard oil scents: Red Wolf, Hatchet, Godly Beard and Nightcap. In the second part, I reviewed one of their beard wash, a beard balm and a mustache wax stick.

3 of the beard oil scents reviewed in this article are woodsy, whereas one is more floral. Each one has its own personality, with different levels of complexity and versatility.

Red Wolf – An Agile Blend of Cedar and Lavender

The Red Wolf scent is an agile blend of cedar and lavender that really surprised me. I’m usually not that much of a fan of cedar and lavender, when either excessively stands out in a beard oil. I tend to dislike beard oils that are too floral or too conifer-like.

That being said, the Red Wolf is a very well balanced blend of cedar and lavender, in such a way that none of these aromas really stand out. I was impressed by the uniqueness of the scent Ruddy Man Beard Co. managed to create from these two rather basic and common aromas. The end result gives a spicy and woodsy beard oil, with mild floral notes of lavender. If you’re not a fan of woodsy beard oils in general, the Red Wolf scent might be the one that’ll make you change your mind.

Hatchet – For Forest Lovers

The Hatchet scent is a very woodsy one, with a nice little citrus twist. This one also contains cedar, as well as pine. Therefore, it’s very woodsy, and smells like conifer in a significant way.

However, Ruddy Man Beard Co. was able to create an interesting scent by adding orange essential oil to the mix. As a result, this helps toning down the conifer scent a bit, although the citrus twist remains subtle. The blend is very spicy and is definitely made for outdoors and wilderness lovers. Personally, I prefer the Red Wolf because of its agile balance of aromas. But if you’re a big fan of woodsy, conifer-like beard oil scents, the Hatchet scent is a must-have in your collection.

Godly Beard – When Frankincense Meets Cedarwood

The Godly Beard scent is in the likes of the Red Wolf in terms of scent uniqueness. This is yet another rather woodsy beard oil, but this one contains frankincense essential oil, which makes a big difference in the blend. The Godly Beard beard oil contains strong cedarwood base notes, with medium notes of frankincense.

The notes of frankincense help make the scent less spicy and brings a different character that I appreciated. It is also woodsy, but in its own way. As a result, this gives a very well-balanced blend, ideal for wood and conifer lovers. If you like the smell of frankincense, you’ll definitely like this beard oil, as long as you like cedarwood too.

Nightcap – Sit Down and Relax

The Nightcap scent is a different beast altogether. It contains lavender, jasmine and patchouli, so this makes it very floral. If you know a thing or two about these essential oils, you’re probably aware of the relaxing properties of such a blend of aromas.

This is not the kind of scent I’m usually attracted to, but once again, Ruddy Man Beard Co. made me change my mind. This scent is a complex one, and kind of hard to describe. It’s definitely floral, somewhat spicy with subtle notes of wood. It actually smells really good and I think this is the most versatile beard oil I tried out from Ruddy Man Beard Co. . This is a scent, thanks to the relaxing properties of its ingredients, that’s ideal in the evening, but can also be used in the morning (it’s relaxing, but not a sleeping pill after all). I think most beardsmen can appreciate this pleasuring beard oil.
