Beard Product Review – 3 Beard Oil Scents from Barbu Beard Co.

Barbu Beard Co. is an American company based in Miami, Florida, that handcrafts all-natural and organic beard care products. The company is very active on Instagram at this time, and plans to launch a Shopify-based website soon, which will be available at the following address: https://barbubeardco.com/.

In this article, I will review 3 beard oils scents from Barbu Beard Co.. These are 3 scents that match different tastes, and whatever your preferences, there is definitely one or more for you among them.

All these beard oils have one thing in common: Barbu Beard Co. is great at creating unique scents that exceeded my expectations. What I mean by that, the 3 scents smelled better than the expectations I had after reading the list of aromas. The end result of their blends is really special and unique.

The Pirate – The Spicy One

The first scent I tried was “The Pirate”. This scent is a mix of grapefruit, bay rum and vanilla essential oils. This one is a good example of what I exposed above. The balance of the 3 aromas makes the scent unique. I can’t say it smells more like grapefruit or vanilla. I would rather say it smells spicy, with a twist of sweetness and sourness at the same time. The result is logical, as grapefruit brings sourness, vanilla brings sweetness and bay rum brings and mix of spice and sweetness.

The oil feels great and applies pretty well. During the day, I could smell from time to time some of the 3 aromas individually, but overall, the sweet and sour spicy smell I described above was the most present.

The Carpenter – A Better Wood Scent

The Carpenter scent is another very unique one created by Barbu Beard Co.. If you usually don’t like wood scents, I suggest you keep reading this review, as The Carpenter might make you change your mind.

At first glance, I said to myself: “Yet, another beard oil for lumberjacks.” Like most wood scent lovers, I love the smell of wood to a certain extent, but it’s rather common in beard oils and not something I want to wear on all occasions.

The Carpenter scent provides a solution to the main wood fragrance problem, that is, smelling too strong and too much. The aromas in this oil are cedar, patchouli and cypress essential oils. Again, it doesn’t specifically smell either of these aromas. It actually has a very present floral scent, brought by the patchouli oil, with the wooden touches of cypress and a discreet cedar scent. Therefore, the blend provides and great balance of wood and floral scents, making this beard oil a stripped-down version of a wood-scented beard oil.

I wouldn’t normally wear a beard oil with a floral scent, but the way this scent is used in The Carpenter is pretty effective and makes this oil a nice alternative to beardsmen who have issues with typical wood scents.

The Grower – A Less Acidic Citrus Scent

The Grower is for citrus lovers. The aromas in this beard oil are lemongrass, peppermint and tea tree essential oils. In this one, lemongrass is very present, making it clearly a beard oil for citrus lovers. However, just like the two other beard oils reviewed above, the end result provides a balanced citrus scent, thanks to the peppermint and the tea tree essential oils.

The Grower’s scent is rather sour, but if you like citrus scents in general, this is not a problem. The peppermint strengthens the smell by adding some spice to it, whereas the tea tree scent helps toning down the very acidic smell of lemongrass.

This scent is great for summer!

How These Oils Feel on the Beard and Skin

These 3 beard oils feel really great on both the beard and skin. The quality of the all-natural and organic ingredients is perceivable, and the oil made my beard look shiny and smell good for several hours.

Barbu Beard Co.’s oils are not overly greasy like some of their competitors. I had no problem cleaning my hands after applying the oil on my beard.

Verdict

Barbu Beard Co. can pride themselves on creating unique beard oil scents by daring to blend very different aromas together. The end result provides scents you can’t find elsewhere, with some of the usual irritants removed altogether.

I recommend The Pirate for those who like spicier beard oils with a balance of sweetness and sourness. For those who usually don’t like wood scents, The Carpenter is definitely worth the try, thanks to the floral aromas that help solving the strong-smell issues of wood. As for The Grower, I recommend it for citrus lovers and those who are looking for a new summer scent.
