The Audacious Beard Co. Australia is a beard product company from , as you can guess, Australia. I was given the opportunity to review beard products from Oceania for the first time and I would like to sincerely thank the company for this.
Disclosure: The products reviewed in this article have been given to me free of charge. I did not receive any other compensation for writing this review.
In this article, I will review 3 beard oil as well a 1 beard balm scents. I’ll also review the nice wooden comb The Audacious Beard Co. Australia sent me with this kit.
The Woodsman Beard Oil
Woodsy beard oil scents are probably the most popular on the market. It’s like the default scent, probably due to the lumberjack stereotype associated with beardsmen.
The Woodsman beard oil scent is exactly what you expect in terms of woodsy beard oil, with subtle surprises. The dominant aroma in this beard oil is cedarwood blended with Bergamot, Patchouli, and Cardamon. I think those 3 ingredients could be more present, as they would help tone down the cedarwood aroma a bit, but nonetheless, I think they do a decent job at giving this woodsy beard oil a different twist.
I’m not usually a huge fan of woodsy beard oil scents, but I’ll admit this one is nice. The combination of unusual aromas definitely help make it less “in your face” than most woodsy beard oil scents on the market.
List of Ingredients
Grapeseed, Bergamot, Patchouli, Cardamon, Cedarwood, Vitamin E.
The Wood Chopper Beard Oil
The Wood Chopper beard oil scent is slightly different than the Woodsman one. This scent contains agilely-blended aromas of Patchouli, Bergamot, Juniper berry, Pine needle and Vetiver. I think the aromas are more balanced in this beard oil. I can’t pinpoint an aroma that’s more present than another. Honestly, I was surprised, as I was expecting a more “cliché” lumberjack kind of beard oil scent. I was wrong and ended up appreciating the Wood Chopper beard oil scent way more than I thought.
This beard oil scent is conifer-like, just like the Woodsman scent. However, it’s more versatile and represents a good option for beardsmen who’d like to try out a woodsy beard oil without feeling like they’ve hit a pine tree. The Wood Chopper beard oil smells slightly like pine, but the end result is more complex than that, and actually, quite interesting.
List of Ingredients
Grapeseed, Patchouli, Bergamot, Juniper berry, Pine needle, Vetiver, Vitamin E.
The Buccaneer Beard Oil
The Buccaneer beard oil scent is different than the other two reviewed in this article. This one is more exotic and contains a daring blend of Bergamot, Tea tree, Tangerine and Bay Rum. This scent is my favorite of the 3. However, I think the Bergamot aroma could be less present, and this would help enhance the Tangerine and Bay Rum aromas, which are terrific ingredients in a beard oil.
This beard oil is rather herbal and not woodsy per se. For that reason, I think it might appeal to a different kind of beardsman. If you like the smell of nature in general, The Buccaneer beard oil is a great option, and it will remind you of your walks in the forest, that’s for sure.
List of Ingredients
Grapeseed, Bergamot, Tea tree, Tangerine, Bay, Vitamin E.
Feeling on Beard and Skin
The Audacious Beard Co. Australia’s beard oils are very well crafted. The texture is just right and applies easily on the beard. I wouldn’t say it’s the best beard oil for “bad beard days” when used alone, but when used with the beard balm reviewed below, you’ll fix those problems anyways.
I like the fact that the beard oil doesn’t smell for hours after applying it. It smells for a reasonable amount of time, and that’s a very good thing. The oil doesn’t contain cheap carrier oils, and that’s also a great plus.
The Audacious Beard Balm
The Audacious Beard Balm is a high quality product that does an excellent job when combined with The Audacious Beard Co. Australia’s beard oil. The scent used in this beard balm is The Woodsman’s. However, I must point out that it smells way less than the beard oil of the same scent, and it’s okay this way. I think it definitely helps tone down the strong wood aroma of The Woodsman beard oil, when using both products together. If you use it with another scent, the beard balm will give a woodsy twist to the beard oil scent that’s just right.
This beard balm does a great job in most areas, be it, conditioning, getting rid of wavy beard hair and providing efficient control. The texture is nice, neither too hard nor too soft, and it applies pretty well on the beard.
Two thumbs up for this beard balm!
The Folding Wooden Comb
Along with the beard products, The Audacious Beard Co. Australia sent me an amazing folding wooden beard comb, which I like a lot!
The comb folds like a jackknife, and can be carried easily in your pocket. It’s made of black sandalwood with fine teeth with, in my opinion, an ideal width. When on the go, this beard comb is a must-have tool for every beardsman.
It’s not made of cheap plastic, or synthetic wood, it’s made of genuine and beautiful black sandalwood, and it’s very well crafted indeed.
I’m a big fan of my classic Kent comb, for everyday use, but since I received this one, it quickly became my travel comb and I actually use it just as much as my regular comb.
All in all, I think The Audacious Beard Co. Australia’s beard products are high quality, well-crafted and well-thought. Instead of offering the typical woodsy beard oil, the company put additional effort to stand out from the competition by adding a different twist in the scents.
I may not a great fan of woodsy beard oil, mainly because I think they tend to be all the same, but The Audacious Beard Co. Australia proved me wrong with their products. Woodsy beard oil can be different, kudos to The Audacious Beard Co. Australia for achieving this!
Their beard balm is a solid product you can’t go wrong with. It’s woodsy, of course, but not all over the place. No matter which beard oil scent you use with it, it’ll add woodsy notes to it without ruining the oil’s scent. It also has great conditioning and control properties as well.
