The British Bearded Baby is a UK-based beard product company from Liverpool. The company prides itself on creating hand made beard oil and beard balm in small batches, in an effort to maintain the highest possible quality.
Last year, I reviewed 3 products from this company. Not so long ago, they decided to send me another product from theirs (the “Pure” beard balm scent) and I will be glad to review it in this very article.
Disclosure: The products reviewed in this article have been given to me free of charge. I did not receive any other compensation for writing this review.
Pure Beard Balm – A Pretty Efficient Beard Conditioner
The Pure beard balm is a pretty efficent beard conditioner, just like its “Hank” counterpart reviewed in my other article. I think this is one the product’s main strength. Several beard balms on the market are great for shaping the beard, but not that much in terms of conditioning and softening. After testing out two beard balms from The British Bearded Baby, I can confirm that their beard balms are terrific for making your beard look awesome.
Compared to the Hank beard balm, the Pure one has better texture. I don’t know if it’s batch-related or simply an improvement, but this is the first thing I noticed right off the bat. Nothing against the Hank’s texture, but the Pure one I tried out was simply better in that regard. If the company did some kind of improvement to their blend, I think they should keep going that road, as it has, in my humble opinion, enhanced their beard balm’s quality in a significant way.
The texture is medium and applies extremely well. As for the hold, it’s soft to medium hard. This is not a beard balm you should be using for gaining lots of control (the company mentions this in the product description). It sure helps in this area, but if you have a stubborn beard or a very frizzy one, this is not the best product for you.
However, the Pure beard balm beats several of its competitors in terms of conditioning, as I mentioned above. It makes my beard shiny, look fresh and healthy, and smells nice.
The company describes the scent as “Lemon Candy”. It has lemon notes indeed and its strong base scent is the same as the Hank beard balm (coconut and vanilla I think). In terms of scent, it’s slightly different than the Hank one, which has notes of cedarwood. There is no wood in the Pure beard balm and I think it makes it more versatile. Woodsy beard products aren’t for every beardsman. Citrus is a good choice for making a beard product fruity without the overly factor.
Here’s the list of ingredients for the Pure beard balm:
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut), Argania Spinosa (Argan), Cera Alba (Beeswax), Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla Extract), Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon).
The Pure beard balm is another high quality product from The British Bearded Baby. Actually, based on the quality of the Pure beard balm, I think The British Bearded Baby has upped their game. This beard balm is better than the Hank one I tried last year. The texture is better, the feeling on the beard and skin is better and personally, I prefer this citrus scent.
If you’re looking for a great beard conditioner, this is a product you must consider. As I said. and the company says itself. this is not a beard styling product per se. It provides more control than beard oil alone, but it’s strength is conditioning and making your beard look awesome and softer.
